The Wickens Ranch, established in 1909, has a rich history in the heart of Montana. Throughout the years each generation has had a hand in caring for the land while passing down the family traditions. Today, as fourth generation ranchers Matt and Jamie Wickens continue to keep the traditions alive as owners of Wickens Ranch Company and Dog Creek Outfitters. As a diversified working ranch operation time is split between raising cattle, outfitting, and a spring/summer guest business. Located in Central Montana along the rugged and scenic Missouri River Breaks, their ranch provides guests a unique opportunity to experience the real Montana way of life. With the change of seasons brings about new activities on the ranch, which presents numerous opportunities for guests to get involved and experience the western lifestyle. From gathering and working cattle to chasing that big buck through the Missouri River Breaks, the Wickens will serve as your hosts while providing the finest in western hospitality.

Located in the heart of Big Sky Country, Wickens Ranch Co. and Dog Creek Outfitters offers you the unique opportunity to vacation in and hunt the coveted Missouri River Breaks and rolling hills of Central Montana. We welcome guests into our home to experience a working ranch vacation or a high quality hunt and give you a glimpse of the real west, with a family whose roots in the area go back to the homesteader days. We are a family run operation that strives to make every visit a personalized experience that you will never forget.

Once you are at the ranch everything is taken care of for you. All your lodging, transportation, guide service, meat and trophy care, as well as 3 generous home cooked ranch style meals a day. We operate largely on private ground, but maintain BLM and state leases to expand our hunting area. The terrain we hunt varies from easily accessible rolling hills to the extremely rugged Missouri River Breaks. Hunting areas are accessed with 4X4 vehicles. The amount of walking and hiking during your hunt will depend on you. We strongly recommend you do some basic preconditioning before your hunt; you will enjoy yourself a lot more and dramatically increase your chances of taking a trophy quality animal. The most common method of hunting will be spot and stalk; high quality optics and hiking boots are recommended.
