Marathon, Half-Marathon. The Marathon course is USATF certified and qualifying results will be submitted to the Boston Marathon. Elevation at the start/finish of the Marathon is 4,830' and gradually drops to a low of 4,110' at mile 8. From there, the course proceeds up and down several hills between miles 8 and 12 before resuming a mostly flat climb to the course's highest elevation of 4930' at mile 19. After that, there are a few small hills before the course finish. The first 7 miles of the course are asphalt and the remaining 19 miles gravel. The 1/2 Marathon is run on a course separate from the Marathon. It is 'out-and-back' but offers unique scenery in both directions. The Half-Marathon is all gravel and proceeds south from the Start to the turn-around point on the Bellview Road. Because of the high proportion of gravel surfacing on these courses, it is HIGHLY recommended that wheelchair racers not participate. Use of running buggies and stereo headphones are also discouraged.
Packet Pick-up: From 10:00am until 5:00pm the day before the race at the race headquarters in the conference center of the Stagestop Inn on Highway 89 North, Choteau, Montana. All races are chip-timed and participants MUST sign-in at this time.
