Saturday, September 15, 2012 - Sunday, September 16, 2012
First Peoples Buffalo Jump Atlatl Competition: Come have some fun with an ancient spear throwing/hunting device. This 8,000 year-old weapon was the prehistoric person's primary means of obtaining fresh game. Learn about the weapon and its history as well as how to throw it. Stationary targets will be set up for competition in novice and expert categories. Participants are required to walk the trail, so bring hiking boots or comfortable shoes.
A learning station will be provided so those unfamiliar with the atlatl can practice before competing. Certificates will be awarded for first, second and third place in men's, women's and youth categories. A learning station will also be setup for bow and tomahawk.
