The Montana Bunkhouse
The Bunkhouse at the ranch headquarters once housed cowboys. It is accessible for persons with handicaps. Two independent rooms, with two beds each, have limited kitchen facilities (microwave, coffee maker, toaster, hot plate, pans, eating utensils) to allow you to do some cooking. The outhouse is a short distance away. Water is available from the ranch house, or bring your own. A fire ring is near.
The Paradise Cabin was built in 1905 as a community hall. It was then converted to a school. Now it is a spacious two bedroom cabin with each bedroom having a queen and a double bed. A day bed and a couch will sleep one person each. A living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and two dining rooms are combined into one great room. The bathroom has a shower, washer, and dryer. A crib and a high chair are for a little one. An extra refrigerator and a large chest freezer are in the furnace room. A fire ring is provided.
While you are here: Headquarter here, as the mile high ranch borders me Big Snowy Mountains where there are many hiking trails, where Crystal Lake is about an hour drive, historic places and the many activities in the surrounding areas are not far away. While hiking to beaver dams, the Sheepherders' Monuments, Green Pole Canyon, Nudie's Point, or the Red Spring; you may see white tail and mule deer, elk, bear, mountain lion, grouse, pheasants, porcupines, skunks, coyotes, and many small birds and animals.
You will enjoy gorgeous sunsets, starry cool nights, and quiet dawns.
If we are working cattle in the corrals, plowing, making hay, or harvesting grain, you may watch.
See the "Lost Arts" of wool felting, wool spinning, and rug hooking demonstrated. Take a class in these fiber arts.
Snowmobile and cross-country ski are welcome during the winter when only the Bunkhouse will be open by special request.
