Welcome to Ringling, Montana

Ringling is between Livingston and White Sulphur Springs. It was named for John Ringling of the Ringling Brothers of circus fame, as well as president and builder of the Yellowstone Park and White Sulphur Springs Railroad, which later became a branch of the Milwaukee. The Ringlings owned ranch properties in this area amounting to more than 100,000 acres. The town became an important shipping point for Smith River Valley wheat and cattle. The Yellowstone Park and White Sulphur Springs line was a twenty-three-mile railroad, its own company, running one train a day and paying dividends to investors. Ringling is located on Sixteenmile Creek. One of the most photographed historic churches, St. John's Catholic Church, is also located in Ringling, with a beautiful view of the Crazy Mountains in its background.
