Welcome to Ledger, MontanaLedger grew up on the Great Northern. The name was chosen in honor of Dan Ledgerwood, a farmer and county commissioner. (from Cheney's Names on the Face of Montana, Mountain Press Publishing Company) Ledger is not far from the Northern Continental Divide Scenic Loop. Straddling the Great Northern Rocky Mountains-what the Blackfeet call the "Backbone of the World"-the nearly 400-mile-long Montana Scenic Loop has it all: spectacular mountains, extensive wilderness, abundant wildlife, and a down-home friendliness that will leave you enchanted. The Loop comprises 15 vibrant communities, each with a special personality. From high, rugged mountains to wind-swept plains, you'll travel what many people consider is the best scenic drive in the West. The neighboring communities of Shelby and Cut Bank have museums documenting the local homesteading history. |
