Welcome to Montana's Russell Country

Welcome to Kevin, Montana

Kevin is a small town near the first oil gush that was drilled in the rich Sweetgrass Arch in 1922. The Kevin-Sunburst oil fields are among the richest Montana’s natural gas and oil fields. Kevin’s first post office was established in 1910 with Rudolph Lehmann as the postmaster. The town was named for an official of the Alberta Railway and Irrigation Company, Thomas Kevin. The narrow railroad built in 1887, nicknamed ‘Turkey Track,’ once ran from Lethbridge, Alberta, south into Montana.
